What In Fact is Dedicated Servers Hosting?

When we talk about hosting servers, there are three principal categories - shared hosting servers, VPS (Virtual Private Servers) and dedicated servers. Shared hosting web servers host multiple clients and therefore the resources per account are limited, virtual private servers give you more configuration autonomy, but also affect other VPS web hosting servers on the hardware node if utilized unwisely, and dedicated servers offer you the liberty to perform everything you prefer without interfering with anyone else.

Why would you require a dedicated servers?

Dedicated servers are usually much more expensive than shared servers or virtual web servers. Why would anyone, then, want to use them? The answer is quite simple. If your corporation has a heavy-content web site, or just has very precise web server architecture requirements, the most sensible option would be a dedicated servers. For somebody who is prepared to invest in security and stability, the bigger price is not a concern. You are granted full server root access and can use 100 percent of the dedicated hosting server's resources without anyone else using these system resources and messing with your online portals.

Hardware specifications

Most hosting corporations, incl. us at BARODA WEB HOST, provide several hardware configurations you can select from on the basis of your needs. The configurations include different types of microprocessors, a different number of cores, different RAM memory and server hard drive sizes and different web traffic usage quotas. You can choose a hosting Control Panel, which is handy software if you wish to utilize the dedicated servers for website hosting purposes only and choose not to resort to an SSH terminal for all the changes you will be making. We offer 3 kinds of Control Panel software - Hepsia, DirectAdmin and cPanel.

The Control Panel of your choice

If you are a confident Linux OS user (our servers are running on Linux or other Unix-based OSs), you could manage your dedicated servers through a Secure Shell terminal exclusively. That, however, could be inconvenient, even more so if you wish to grant complete root-level access to someone else who has less technical knowledge than yourself. This is why having hosting CP software installed is an intelligent idea. The Hepsia Control Panel graphical user interface that we provide does not offer complete root-level access and is mostly suitable for someone who runs plenty of web pages that absorb plenty of system resources, but desires to manage the online portals, databases and mail addresses using an intuitive Control Panel. The DirectAdmin and cPanel Control Panels, on the other hand, give you root privileges and include 3 levels of access - root, reseller and user. If you plan to resell web hosting packages rather than using the dedicated servers solely for yourself, you should pick one of these two.

Server monitoring and backup services

Last but not least, there is the issue of monitoring the dedicated servers and of backing it up. In case of a problem with your dedicated web hosting server, like an unresponsive Apache or a downtime, it is useful to have some sort of monitoring system activated. Here at BARODA WEB HOST the system administrators monitor all dedicated servers for ping timeouts, and, if you order a Managed Services upgrade, they monitor the individual services on the dedicated servers too. Backups are also an extra option - the web hosting supplier offers you data backups on our own backup web servers. You could select a type of RAID that would permit you to save the same data on two server hard disk drives as a precaution in the event of a disk drive failure, or in case someone whom you have ranted root privileges erases something by accident.
